February Beauty Round-up

dr. dennis gross peel pads

So I'm tryinggg to get better about my beauty blogging. I'm writing this now, to you, to hold myself accountable. If y'all don't see AT LEAST one beauty post from me a month, you have my permission to send me hate (e)mail. In fact, I demand it.

As a blogger, I am constantly trying, buying, and receiving new products each month. I'm going to be totally honest here: I love the idea of constantly trying to new products, but when it comes to literally trying them, I'm actually kind of the worst. When I find products I like, I tend to gravitate back to those over and over instead of trying new things. But because I've been accumulating sooo many beauty products lately, I want to do a better job of sharing those products with all of you.

For the sake of keeping you guys abreast of my current beauty loves, my beauty mehs, and my beauty no's, I'm starting a new series: Beauty Round-ups. This series will be monthly, and it will include all of the products I am currently trying and what I really think about them.

Let's start with everyone's favorite—the brows.

anastasia dipbrow pomade

Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade

You can read my full eyebrow break-down post here. This product was obviously mentioned because it's fan-flippin'-tastic! I am also currently loving this, this, and this. I literally alternate among all of them, but this is the one I use DAILY.

I first comb out my brows with this brush, then I apply the pomade, and it literally takes no more than .06 seconds to have Kardashian brows. I luckily have naturally thick, dark brows, but this product helps keep my eyebrows looking tamed and polished.

Everyone loves this brow dip, and that's because it's GREAT. 10/10!

I also have a lot of people ask if I get my brows threaded, tweezed, or waxed. Well, I used to wax, but it always irritated my sensitive-ass skin, so now I get them dermaplaned, and I try to tweeze between appointments, but I'm honestly really lazy with my brows and just kind of let them do their own thing.

dr. dennis gross peel pads nordstrom

Dr. Dennis Gross Peel Pads

The moment you've all been waiting for—my review of these holy-grail-holy-sh*t-these-are-expensive-cult-favorite-peel-pads. Let's just say they are a blogger favorite for a reason. On this blog, I always include products I'm actually using. I'm not linking stuff just to link it. I know I talk about these babies all. the. time, but it's because they are WORTH it. I purchased these from Nordstrom because they have a fantastic return policy and customer service team. (No, they did not pay me to say that LOL.) I read hundreds (literally hundreds) of positive reviews on this product, so I was like "fine," and I clicked "confirm" on my order, and here we are. I honestly might as well be leading the Dr. Dennis Gross Peel Pads fan club at this point. They are—dare I say—magnificent? I know a lot of you are put off by the price tag—well, don't be. Though it is steep, it is WORTH IT. I mean, can you really put a price on happiness?! These are an investment in good skin, which is an investment with excellent ROI. JUST SAYING.

My skin is super, super fickle, so I was initially a little apprehensive to try these. BUT I'M SO GLAD I DID. The box encourages use every other night, but for me, I used them every other night for 2-3 weeks, and now I use them like twice a week, and they are still very effective. I can immediately see an improvement in my complexion, and any signs of fine lines and hyper-pigmentation are significantly decreased.

These peel pads really do improve the texture of your skin, which is crazy to me. I have so many beauty products I have tried over the years, and for the most part, they're all kind of meh. This product is not meh. It's anything but. Trust me—you NEED these. And I would suggest ordering from Nordstrom, too, because their return policy will rock your socks if you try these and realize they aren't for you. They also come in ultra gentle and extra strength versions. I use the original version, for reference.

Did I mention these are super convenient? They are amazing for travel because you can just shove two of them in your purse/overnight bag/carry on, and you are G2G (good to go).

I also use any excess product on my neck, chest, and hands—don't let a drop of these go to waste, y'all!

TL;DR: They are quality, convenient, and will give you J.Lo at the Grammys glow. 10/10 would recommend!

nars illuminator review

NARS Copacabana Illuminator

Yuuuuuuuusssss. I have been using this illuminator on and off for years, and I still love it! As I've mentioned before, I am kinda sorta completely addicted to buying highlighters in any form. This illuminator is no exception. I absolutely love its consistency; the way it glides on your face is fab-u-lous. I dab a little on the highest point of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, on my eyebrow bone, and in my cupid's bow, and I immediately look like a Victoria's Secret Angel— minus the height, angel wings, and perfect body. But like, really close.

I have several highlighters I switch among: this, this, and this being the main three right now. But I literally use this one the absolute most. One reason is because it's so fun to apply. Powder highlighters are great, but there is something about liquid that is really fun and summery. It definitely gives dull winter skin the infusion of dew it needs to be beach glowy and SEXY.

Dull, matte skin is not sexy. Youthful glowy skin IS sexy. Say it with me now! And the bottle lasts for MONTHS. The only drawback to this product is that it can be a little messy, so this isn't something you want to apply in your car, at work, or in your in-law's bathroom. 9.5/10—obsessed!

**Ed note: NARS is no longer cruelty-free. The brands does presently allow its products to be tested on animals in China.

Also currently using: Bioderma Sensible H20, La Roche-Posay 60 Face SPF, and several Urban Decay Vice lipsticks. Will report back later with my thoughts!

What did you think about my February products? Have you tried any? Did you like this style of post? Tell me in the comments!
